Transatlantic is the progressive rock supergroup comprised of Neal Morse (Spock's Beard; lead vocals, guitar, keyboard), Roine Stolt (Flower Kings; lead vocals, guitar), Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater; drums, vocals), and Pete Trewavas (Marillion; bass, vocals).
The band was founded in 1999 by Mike Portnoy, who envisioned an all-star progressive rock band with the finest players from prog’s leading bands. After two hugely successful albums (SMPTe; 2001 and Bridge Across Forever; 2003) Transatlantic disbanded.
They reunited in 2009 to create The Whirlwind. The extraordinary album fuses all four artist’s unique creativity, fulfilling six years of potential, culminating in their best effort to date.
In 2010, The Whirlwind concert experience came home on DVD, capturing the entire 3.5 hour London concert and featuring a 2 hour documentary. Entitled, Whirlwind Tour 2010: Live at Shepherd’s Bush London, the mammoth 2-DVD and 3-CD set is a fitting tribute to one of today’s most spectacular live acts.
