
Morse is an accomplished guitarist and composer, having explored a wide variety of genres over thirty years. He is known for his stylistically diverse compositional skills and virtuoso abilities. Among his accolades are being voted "Best Overall Guitarist" by Guitar Player magazine for five years in a row, and five Grammy nominations.
He is often cited by guitarists such John Petrucci as a major influence, and has proven himself throughout his career as capable of playing highly complex chord structures in classical sequences, as well as being able to play fast, shredded arpeggios.
Steve has released 38 albums as a band member, and guested on 64 others, ranging from Pavarotti to Lynyrd Skynyrd.
He has been the lead guitarist for Deep Purple since 1994, and continues to write and perform his own material, as well as collaborate with other artists.
His most recent studio releases are Angelfire (Angelfire, 2010), Outstanding in Their Field (Steve Morse Band, 2010) and Rapture of the Deep (Deep Purple, 2005).
